Household Garbage |top|
Once a week collection (see Zone listing) includes food wastes and trash which can be put into normal garbage cans not weighing more than 60 lbs. each when full (4 Pail Limit Per household)

Additional service, such as in-driveway and/or container services, are available directly from TCD. The cost for these additional services are paid 3 months in advance. CaIl TCD for additional information.

Household garbage must be out by 6:00 a.m. on scheduled collections days. Your recyclables may be picked up earlier (or later) then your regular garbage collection.

Paint cans will only be picked up if they are empty or do not contain liquid paint. If you have any question regarding disposal of paint call TCD.

For special pick-up of materials such as construction debris or bulky household items not routinely picked up during regu!ar refuse service, call TCD to make pick up arrangements. The cost of these additional services are paid directly to TCD.

Newspapers, Magazines and Commingled Recyclables

Once a week collection (see schedule).

All goods should be out for pick-up by 6:00a.m.


All newspapers and magazines must be tied in bundles or put securely in paper bags; commingled recyclables in approved plastic bags or bins.


Curb side yard waste pick-up |top|
Grass Clippings and leaves will be picked up on Wednesday's on the dates listed below. Grass and leaves must be bagged and placed at curbside by 6:00 a.m. for collection. Bags cannot be larger than 30 gallons and there is a limit of 20 bags per household per month.


Bulk Drop-Off |top|
Bulk drop off is for resident's household items only on the third Saturday of each month between the hours of 9am and 12 noon. Each household is limited to two (2) cubic yards. Any bulk in excess of the amount must be paid for directly to TCD.

The following items will not be accepted for bulk drop-off: Paint, liquids, masonry, stumps, lumber, chemicals, used oils, stone, trees, propane tanks, tires, batteries, bricks and logs. Also, construction, renovation or remodeling debris including kitchens, bath, deck and windows will not be accepted.

Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners or any other appliance containing Freon must be discharged and tagged by a State authorized specialist.

North Salem residents are to call TCD at 914-669-0150 to make an appointment prior to the scheduled drop-off date. Residents must supply TCD with their name, address and block and lot number prior to the drop-off date.


Commercial Garbage Collection |top|
Your container will be removed by the current sanitation company August 31, 2002. You MUST call 914-669-0150 with your name and address to receive a Tri-County Disposal container.

As part of your property taxes the Town of North Salem provides once a week collection to all commercial property owners.

Pick-up is limited to either a 1 cubic yard container or four pails not weighing more than 60 lbs. each.

Containers ranging in size from 1 cubic yards to 10 cubic yards are available from TCD at a rental of fifty dollars ($ 50) per month.

Additional pick-ups and services are available from TCD at an additional change.

All commercial garbage must be left behind the building on the scheduled collection days by 6 am (see Zone listing).

Reporting Problems |top|
If you have any problem with your garbage collection, you should contact TCD between the hours of 9:00a.m.- 4:30p.m. This should lead to a satisfactory resolution.
