- Brush Removal: the Highway Department will collect a limited amount of trimmed branches in the spring and summer as time permits. This is for residents who live on a town road and are unable to dispose of them on their own property. Branches must be neatly piled with the cut end facing the road and placed along your property edge. Residents may call the office and leave their address to be added to the "pick up" list.
- Leaf Pickup: for residents who live on a town road, the department will collect leaves that are piled at the front of the property at the road's edge. This service occurs in the fall only, commencing around the beginning of October and ending at the first snow. You may also bring your leaves to the salt shed site for composting. They must be either loose or in paper bags. No plastic bags.
- Compost: the department turns brush, branches, leaves, etc. into compost for use on town properties. Due to the large quantities produced, we are happy to share this valuable compost with residents. You may pick up the compost at the salt shed site on June Road, north of the high school. Residents only; no commercial vehicles. You may also bring your leaves and brush to the same site; again, no commercial vehicles; no plastic bags; residents only.
- Recycling
- Oil: You may bring your used oil to the department's garage at the corner of June and Titicus Roads for recycling. You should also know that any garage that changes oil must also accept used oil.
- Batteries: You may bring car batteries to the department's garage for proper disposal.
- Tires, electronics and other items not allowed in the regular trash pickup: we are currently working with members of the Conservation Advisory Council to arrange a common drop-off site for items to be delivered to the County "household cleanup" service. The county has four events each year.
- Bulk items: the town offers this service for each property owner, one-time per year. Please call Bria Carting at 914-232-1043 to make an appointment.
