As Registrar of Vital Statistics the Town Clerk’s Office maintains records for all births and deaths which occur in Town and issues Marriage Licenses.

Marriage Licenses
A Marriage License is required for any couple intending to be married in the State of New York. A license may be obtained anywhere in the State. There is a 24-hour waiting period before the license takes effect; after that it is valid for sixty (60) days. The license fee is $25.00. The couple must apply in person and bring proof of identity and date of birth (driver’s license or passport). In addition, if this is not the first marriage, a certified copy of each divorce decree that has been granted or a certified copy of a death certificate is also required.

After the ceremony the officiate will return the Marriage License to the Town Clerk who will then issue a Marriage Certificate to the couple. Marriage license records are forwarded to the New York State Department of Health and a copy is kept on file in the Town Clerk’s Office.
