Climate Action Plan

This Climate Action Plan for the Town of North Salem sets goals and identifies actions that will be most effective in responding to the threats to human health and safety posed by climate change in the decades to come. The priorities as outlined in this plan will put the Town of North Salem on a path to reach net carbon neutrality as follows: At least a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas (carbon dioxide (CO2), methane and nitrous oxide) emissions reductions from the 2019 base year levels by 2030, with a stretch target of 40% reduction by 2030 from 2019 levels and “net zero emissions” by 2050. These goals are consistent with the Long-Term Strategy of the United States: Pathways to Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2050 (Published by the United States Department of State and the United States Executive Office of the President, Washington DC November 2021).
