Criminal Jurisdiction
As of 2022, the North Salem Town Court (Criminal Calendar) will meet at 5:30PM on scheduled Mondays. Conferences will begin @ 4:45 on a first come, first serve basis.
Criminal Cases
The North Salem court has arraignment and preliminary jurisdiction over all felony criminal cases and full jurisdiction over all cases involving misdemeanors, violations and Traffic Infractions. The Office of the Westchester County District Attorney prosecutes all Penal Law and Vehicle and Traffic Law criminal cases.
Family Offense Proceedings
The North Salem Court has concurrent jurisdiction with Family Court over certain offenses committed between members of the same family or household (related by blood or marriage, former spouses, those having a common child or participants of an intimate relationship) such as disorderly conduct, harassment, menacing, reckless endangerment and assault. The Office of the Westchester County District Attorney prosecutes family offenses.
