COVID19/Coronavirus UPDATE 3/21/20 10PM

We have several positive cases of COVID19 in North Salem with an additional number of people quarantined. Ridgefield's First Selectman Rudy Marconi informed us that Ridgefield has 6 positive cases. Somers has a number as do the rest of the surrounding Towns.

On March 19, the Town Board authorized the closing of the fields at Volunteer and JB Park. While you can walk in the parks, there should be no active play or congregating involving multiple people; no balls, no Frisbees etc. The Town is sanitizing the playground area in both parks daily, however we warn against using it when others are present. The police are doing a drive-by multiple times per day. If there are any active games being played on the fields, the entire park and parking area will be closed. Please consider visiting our Open Land parcels..

It is imperative that everyone maintain social distancing, at least 6 feet away from each other. There should be no one playing, socializing, meeting or gathering. The virus infections are increasing and everyone needs to make sure that they are not communicating the disease. The incubation period of the disease is 2-14 days and they are finding that many younger people are becoming infected and not doing as well as expected. Younger people get this infection and will get sick.

Anyone with questions about COVID19 needs to call the County hotline at 211. NYC is about to have increase positive cases.

Testing
The FDA approved a new 45 minute test which will be primarily used in ER's and hospitals. The test will allow them to determine rapidly whether or not they have someone with a cold, flu or COVID19 so that they can treat and quarantine them properly.
