Scholarship Opportunity

New Dawn Family Resource Center, a nonprofit organization in upper Westchester NY, provides
victims of Elder Abuse, Human Trafficking, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and teen dating
violence access to support and services within the northern community.

In memory of the life and accomplishments of its founding board member and Treasurer, New Dawn Family Resource Center has established, The Richard B. Lyman Civic Engagement/Service Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes civic engagement/service; his belief in “being of service to others” was a guiding principle in his many successful accomplishments for the communities of northern Westchester. The scholarship will be awarded to one graduating high school senior in the public schools of the following communities: Bedford, Pound Ridge, Lewisboro, North Salem and Somers. Applicants should submit a 400 to 500 word essay on how they have been of service to others in their community. Their civic engagement should be focused on direct service; giving personal time and energy to address immediate community needs. Direct service can be to an organization or individual.
